Jessica Turner brought up a great internal debate I've been having. Is it time for Elli to give up the paci? She's 13 months old now and I can see her gradually becoming more and more obsessed with it. She's only ever had it during nap/bedtime and church services (when she feels the need to chat with Daddy or Papa while they're on the mic). Lately, however, whenever she finds one that she has chucked out of the crib she snatches it up and pops it in. Until recently she would have just ignored it.
I'm also concerned because after having it in her mouth for a while (like in the mornings) she does a weird thing with her tongue for a long time and it causes her "speech" to be different than it is the rest of the day. (yes, I AM that paranoid first time mama at times).
So what do you think? Is now the time? Do I really want to put myself through this? (right now I can do nothing but dread this process)
I would love to hear what you have to say! :)

Bottle first...then the paci...that's my vote. :)
Ahhh...goodies. :)
We started trying with both girls once they were 15mos but addiction wasn't broken until 2 - 2 1/2. After 15 mos only for nap and night time.
It also helped because the girls wanted to give everything to Elli so I used that to my benefit.
P.S. I asked the dentist and they said there wouldn't be a concern until age 4.
I am with mom bottle first...
I was going to clarify this, but decided to leave it out. I am weaning Elli from the bottle first. My goal is to get her down to just a night time bottle (at least) and then start working on the paci. It all just makes me sad because it's just another step away from babyhood. :(
I think the farther you get from 1 the more difficult the process becomes. The time is now. Easy for me to say, difficult to do, I know! :)
